It’s been an annual event for the past 25 years, but this year, DiGem Jewelers is taking on cancer and turning its BBQ tradition into a fundraiser dinner.
“The DiGem buying group, both personally and professionally, has been affected by cancer, whether it be a family member or themselves,” DiGem president Tim Markwart told Jewellery Business. “We certainly want to do our part to fight it.”
Coinciding with the Western Canadian Jewellery Expo, ‘An Evening of DiGem Decadence’ will raise funds for the Canadian Cancer Society. The event includes live entertainment, silent and live auctions, and a 50/50 draw. Organizers are looking to raise $25,000 to help fight the disease with the inaugural event.
“We’re hoping our suppliers and vendors will also take up the challenge and support our fight in any way they can,” Markwart added.
The charity dinner is being held on Aug. 15 at the Mayfield Inn and Suites Conference Centre, 16615″“109 Avenue, Edmonton, Alta.
Tickets are $65 a person and available on a first-come, first-serve basis. For advance tickets, to make a donation, or for sponsorship details, please call the DiGem office at (403) 346-2380.
