Materials technology company Umicore has been named one of the world’s most sustainable and ethical companies by Corporate Knights and EthiSphere, respectively.
Dedicated to the creation and sharing of best practices in business ethics and corporate social responsibility, EthiSphere recognizes companies that “go beyond making statements about doing business ‘ethically.'” Of the 110 companies on EthiSphere’s ranking, Umicore is the only firm in its sector and in Belgium to appear on the list.
Independent publication, Corporate Knights, ranked Umicore number five out of 100 of the world’s most sustainable companies. The ranking is based on 10 performance indicators, including innovation and diversity.
In other company news, Umicore is now offering seamless rings that can be customized to the manufacturers’ requirements and are available in all karats (i.e. 10-karat, 14-karat, and 18-karat) in yellow, white (palladium and nickel options), green, and red gold.
According to Umicore, the diffusion process produces bonds stronger than solder, and the blanks can be detailed, textured, or engraved like a single-metal ring.
Umicore is parent company of Imperial Smelting and Refining Co. in Markham, Ont.
