Jewelers Mutual has promoted Joel Matthies to senior vice-president of personal lines.
“Jewelers Mutual launched its personal jewellery insurance business in 1953, and its growth continues to accelerate. Joel Matthies is the right person to take the wheel,” said company president and chief executive officer (CEO), Darwin Copeman.
“Today’s consumers are looking for flexibility, and Joel is an expert at engaging insureds across multiple product delivery channels. He has the vision to create new direct-to-consumer avenues, yet understands that our close relationships with jewellery store owners are crucial to helping protect their valued customers, right down to that young couple making their first jewellery purchase.”
More than 290,000 consumers hold Perfect Circle policies under Jewelers Mutual’s personal lines division.
Matthies previously served as the company’s chief information officer (CIO). Under his guidance, Jewelers Mutual received the prestigious CIO 100 Award in 2010 for IT innovation in delivering business solutions.
