Embee Diamonds’ Evert Botha has been named a finalist in the Samuel McLeod Business Awards.
The award recognizes business leaders who embody the pioneering spirit, entrepreneurship, civic leadership, and unfailing faith in Prince Albert, Sask., of Samuel McLeod, one of the city’s early settlers.
“It’s an incredible honour to be nominated by my peers and customers,” said Botha, who serves as Embee’s chief operating officer (COO).
“As a manufacturer focused on exports outside of Saskatchewan, we often get asked why we chose Prince Albert. It is simple—this is an incredible community. We appreciate that most of the nominees are locally owned, independent businesses—they are our downtown neighbours. Too often we forget this place we call home is an integral part of our narrative, and will become even more so as Saskatchewan’s diamond mines come online (hopefully in my lifetime).”
Embee Diamonds was also nominated in the ‘Business of the Year’ category.
Winners will be announced on April 17.
