Corona Jewellery Co. has appointed Cameron Gillies as its new executive vice-president of sales.
Previously serving as president of Martin Ross Group, Gillies will be responsible for managing Corona’s global sales team and further developing customer relations. He officially joins the Toronto-based company in mid-January.Â
“Cameron presents a unique opportunity for Corona to expand,” said company president John Minister. “I feel his broad jewellery industry experience combined with Corona’s skills and industry strengths are a perfect fit.”Â
Gillies began his career in Western Canada at the age of 14 working for a local retailer. In time, he worked his way up to operations manager for Dales of Edmonton, where he created new retail brands, engaged in lease negotiations, designed stores, and hired and trained staff. He was also responsible for purchasing, marketing, and advertising.
In 1990, Gillies joined Canadian jewellery manufacturer A&A Jewellers. Over the next 16 years, he got to know the ins and outs of the industry by working with independent and major accounts, as well as hands-on involvement with manufacturing, importing and exporting, human resources, factory management, credit, and collections. Gillies eventually become one of two corporate senior vice-presidents. In 2009, he joined Martin Ross Group and was later involved in the purchase of Libman Co.Â
Gillies will report directly to Minister.
