Waldman Diamond Co. is teaming up with the Gem Certification and Assurance Lab (GCAL) to certify diamonds from the Diavik mine as Canadian and conflict-free.

The Waldman Diamond Co. and the Gem Certification and Assurance Lab (GCAL) are working together to certify the company’s diamonds as conflict-free Canadian stones.

Using a process and technology that maps a diamond’s unique optical fingerprint, the lab will certify the diamonds were mined in Canada and specifically from the Diavik mine in the Northwest Territories. Waldman is a Rio Tinto select diamantaire, a formal recognition of an exclusive provider of rough diamonds from one or more of three Rio Tinto mines—Argyle, Diavik, or Murowa.

The certification assures consumers their diamond purchase is compliant with the Kimberley Process and the Canadian Diamond Code of Conduct (CDCC).

Waldman’s factories in Israel, New York, and Vancouver will offer the certification.
