Milenyum Mining has donated faceted and rough Csarite to Gemmological Association of Great Britain (Gem-A) to help expand students’ knowledge about the gemstone.
The colour-changing diaspore is found solely in the Anatolia Mountains of Turkey. Only about 40 to 50 per cent of rough Csarite material is suitable for faceting. About 98 per cent of a stone is lost in the cutting process.Â
“Europe and the United Kingdom are rapidly growing markets for Csarite,” explained Murat Akgun, president of Milenyum Mining. “A contribution of Csarite gems of this magnitude enables Gem-A to share knowledge of this gem with their students and for those students to gain hands-on knowledge of this beautiful gem.”
The donation consists of faceted gems, rough specimens, and a selection of crystals to be used for refractive index (RI) testing.Â
