CJExpos and Beverly Hills Jewellers have announced the finalists in the 2015 Giovanni Vaccaro Family Scholarship.
They are:
- Angie Chu from Ontario College of Art and Design University;
- Nathalie Maiello from Nova Scotia College of Art and Design University;
- Mariya Karpenko from Vancouver Community College;
- Laura Struve from Vancouver Community College;
- Mana Manzheri from George Brown College;
- Prisilla Hui from Ontario College of Art and Design University;
- Shuang Feng from Ontario College of Art and Design University;
- Lina Maria Avendano from George Brown College; and
- Amanda Green from Vancouver Community College.
Now in its second year, the scholarship bestows a $3000 grant on a student enrolled in a Canadian college offering a jewellery program, while the school itself receives a $1000 gift.
In addition, the winner receives an expenses-paid trip to the Jewellers Vigilance Canada Ball in November and exhibition space at the 2016 editions of CJExpos.
Giovanni Vaccaro of Beverly Hills Jewellers says he is proud to be a part of this scholarship. “It is a great way to give something back to an industry that has been so good to my family and me,” he said.
Submissions were required to have an estimated retail value of $1500 and fit with this year’s theme, ‘Ladies.’ All entries will be on display next month at CJExpos Toronto and Edmonton, where attendees can vote for the winner.
