A Canadian retailer has received the 2012 International Achievement Award from the Gemological Institute of America (GIA) for her contributions to the Ontario alumni chapter.

Lanis Mosher, an accredited jewellery professional, was presented the award at the annual GIA Alumni Association dinner in Tucson earlier this year. The GIA Global Alumni Awards recognize members who exhibit leadership, demonstrate service to the gem and jewellery industry, and actively support the association’s growth through continuing education and innovative programs. “My best advice is to stay involved in your chapter as you never know what gems you will meet,” Mosher said, adding she has rarely missed an event since the Ontario chapter’s founding two years ago. “I plan to return to Tucson next year to reconnect with fellow alumni. I am refreshed and excited about where to take my career next and what additional GIA courses I want to enroll in.”

Gail Brett Levine of the Manhattan alumni chapter was also recognized for her contributions with the 2012 International Leadership Award.
