Gemesis chief executive officer Stephen Lux has resigned from his position with the lab-grown diamond producer.
“While I can’t get into too many specifics as to the reasons for my decision to leave, it is fair to conclude the joy of building something special with the growing sales of the lab-created diamonds has been overshadowed by the other ‘distractions,'” he told JCK Online.
“The internal situation had made it difficult to focus on the long-term objectives of the company.”
The announcement comes several months following the discovery of 600 undisclosed synthetic colourless diamonds by the International Gemological Institute in Antwerp that some allege were produced by Gemesis.
At the time, the Florida-based company denied the allegations.
