Student honoured with ArtCAM award

George Brown College student Kecily Yu Jou Hung is the recipient of the 2013 ArtCAM JewelSmith Award.

“Delcam is pleased to be recognized as the software vendor of choice by such a distinguished school as George Brown College, and is happy to show its support by presenting this award,” said Scott Ingram, Delcam’s account manager for ArtCAM JewelSmith.

“Jewellery-making is a growing industry in Canada, and this program helps independent artists to develop the skills needed to start a career in the industry. The program not only focuses on the goldsmithing techniques and design skills that are necessary to succeed as a designer/goldsmith, but also teaches broader aspects of jewellery-making, including sawing, filing, soldering, casting, and forging, plus decorative metal techniques such as inlay, filigree, and chasing, as well as the particular needs of working with silver, gold, and platinum.”

The award is given annually to a third-year graduate student from the jewellery arts program at Toronto’s George Brown College demonstrating innovation and excellence using Delcam’s ArtCAM JewelSmith software for the design and manufacture of jewellery.

This is the third year Delcam has awarded one of the graduating students at George Brown College a seat of ArtCAM JewelSmith to continue to develop their jewellery portfolio.
