Hillberg & Berk gifts pin to Queen

hillbergCanadian jewellery retailer Hillberg & Berk has designed and created a pin for the Queen in support of the military.

The 18-karat gold and yellow sapphire pin is in the shape of a ribbon. It was commissioned by the lieutenant governor of Saskatchewan, Vaughn Solomon Schofield, and presented to the Queen earlier this month.

This is the second time the Regina jeweller has designed a piece of jewellery for the Queen. In 2013, the company gifted an 18-karat white gold brooch set with Madagascar tourmaline, a white freshwater pearl, and 300 diamonds.

According to Hillberg & Berk, the Queen has worn her first Hillberg & Berk brooch on numerous occasions, most recently at the Royal Ascot horse races in 2014.

Modelled after the pin, two replica styles of the yellow ribbon will be sold on Hillberg & Berk’s website, with proceeds supporting the Military Families Fund and Soldier On. The Military Families Fund provides emergency financial assistance to military families in need due to conditions of service. Soldier On is a Canadian Armed Forces program that supports currently serving members and veterans overcome their physical or mental health illness or injury through physical activity and sport.
