The Gdańsk International Fair is sending out a call for entries for the Amberif Design Award 2011, a competition that promotes creative ideas in design with Baltic amber.
This year’s contest carries the theme of ‘Story Telling.’
“[This] is an invitation to enter into a dialogue, to present one’s own point of view, a subjective commentary, a personal (hi)story worth telling,” said contest curator, SÅ‚awomir FijaÅ‚kowski.
Entries must be an original design of artistic jewellery incorporating amber and submitted in a 2-D format, such as a drawing or photograph measuring 30 x 30 cm.
First prize is 10,000 PLN (approx. $3600 Cdn.), second prize is two kilograms of amber, and third prize is two kilograms of silver.
The deadline to submit entries is Feb. 5. Winners will be announced at Amberif 2011 in Gdańsk, Poland, which is being held March 9 to 12.
