Alrosa organizing more diamond auctions in Israel

Israel’s place as a diamond hub for the trade of rough and polished diamonds is spurring Alrosa to hold more auctions there next year.

“We’re very pleased with Alrosa’s decision to auction more rough in Israel,” said Israel Diamond Exchange (IDE) president Yair Sahar. “It offers further proof of Israel’s wide-ranging expertise and versatility in diamond manufacturing and trading. We look forward to strengthening our industry’s relationship with Alrosa further.”

The diamond mining giant held two auctions at Ramat Gan’s diamond exchange complex for rough diamonds of 10.8 carats or more in 2012. There’s no indication how many it will hold in 2013.
