Three male individuals have been charged in connection with a violent armed robbery at a jewellery store in Mississauga, Ont. One of the suspects has also been linked to a spree of armed robberies at currency exchange locations, another jewellery store, and a pharmacy within Ontario’s Peel Region.

Allegedly, eight suspects entered a jewellery store near Mississauga’s Mavis Road and Britannia Road. Armed with firearms, several suspects threatened patrons and store owners, forcing them to lie on the ground while they stole a substantial amount of jewellery and cash. The suspects fled the scene in two stolen vehicles. Fortunately, there were no reported injuries.

Upon investigation, three suspects were identified and arrested. Israel Brathwaite, a 23-year-old from Markham, was apprehended and charged with robbery. Two youths from Toronto were also arrested, a 14-year-old who has been charged with robbery and wearing a disguise with intent, and a 15-year-old who faces multiple charges, including five counts of robbery, four counts of wearing a disguise with intent, and failure to comply with a release order.

At the time of his arrest, the 15-year-old youth was on a release order for previous robbery charges. Investigators believe he is responsible for four armed robberies and attempted robberies at various locations within Peel Region, beginning in August 2024.

As a result of the investigation, police recovered three stolen vehicles and numerous items related to the offenses.

The investigation is ongoing, and police expect that additional charges may be forthcoming. Anyone with information about the incident is urged to contact the relevant authorities.

  1. Youth doing repetitive adult crime, should be on trial as an adult. These kids know the system and play it. Change the rules on them.
