Armenian jewellers in Québec’s largest city came together not just on the show floor, but also in the city during this year’s Expo Prestige[3]. On August 27, the Armenian Jewellers Association (AJA) of Montréal hosted its 20th annual networking event, uniting this tight-knit community over food, drinks, conversation, and a stunning view at Terrasse Place d’Armes[4] in Old Montréal.
“This is an event we look forward to every year,” said Pierre Akkelian, founder of AJA and chair of the Armenian Jewellers Foundation[5] (AJF), in addressing attendees. “It’s been a pleasure to host you all here.”
Akkelian went on to highlight the support provided by École de gemmologie de Montréal[6] and its president, Marie-Hélène Corbin, in a recent initiative[7] to help 15 Syrian-Armenian students complete a course on Matrix. He also thanked Jewelers Mutual Insurance Group[8] for its contributions to the event.
“We’re very pleased to be part of this group and this organization,” said Mark Devereaux, Jewelers Mutual’s vice-president of sales. “This industry is all about helping people. You’re helping the customers, you’re helping each other—that’s what this gathering is all about.”
