More than 70 per cent of the IDE’s 2500 members voted in the biennial elections to reaffirm Paz as president. He received a 73 per cent majority.
Paz said he was very pleased with the membership’s vote of confidence and stressed there is more work to be done to battle back from the economic crisis.
“Our industry faces a multitude of challenges in the coming year and there is a lot of work waiting for the new board and myself,” Paz said. “We will all work hard to turn these challenging times into new opportunities.”
Members also voted in a new board and committee. Yair Sahar and Ya’akov Katan were elected vice-presidents. The new board members are: Mordechai (Moti) Fluk, Ya’akov (Kobi) Korn, Shalom Papir, Ben Zion Sasa, Yehezkel (Hezi) Blum, Yehuda Sayag, Amotz Raz, Rafi Yerushalmi, Yehoram Harel Haimoff, Ya’akov Harun Sheli, Eli Shiri, Yishai Topel, Hagai HaLevi, and Yosef Papo.
Paz’s re-election at IDE allows him to run for another term as president of the World Federation of Diamond Bourses (WFDB) when elections are held at the World Diamond Congress in 2010.
