Montreal-based Midore Inc., and Danish watch line Bering have 200 reasons to smile.

Less than six months after launching the line in Canada, the two companies have signed on their 200th retailer.

“It is a terrific milestone for us to open our 200th account of Bering watches in Canada,” said Michael Negreanu, co-founder of Midore. “We have been in business for 30 years now and this watch line is by far the most successful one we have ever had. Most of our accounts tell us that Bering is becoming the top-performing watch line in their store.”

Inspired by the beauty of the Arctic, Bering finds its roots in a 2008 expedition to the North Pole, when Danish adventurer and businessman Rene Kaerskov jumped out of a helicopter onto the top of the world. The view around him inspired the look and feel of the Bering watch brand, which gets its name from Danish sailor Vitus Bering, the explorer who journeyed to the Arctic in 1728.

“We expect the Bering line to be sold in more than 300 doors by next year, and we project it will continue to grow strong and become a ‘must-have’ watch line in jewellery stores across the country in a very short time,” Negreanu added.
