A veteran of the luxury industry has been named successor to Birks & Mayors’ retiring president and chief executive officer (CEO).
Jean-Christophe Bédos, who formerly served in the same role at Boucheron, takes over the reins from Thomas A. Andruskevich starting April 1. In the meantime, Bédos will serve as chief operating officer (COO).
“I am very pleased to welcome Jean-Christophe Bédos as the successor to the president and CEO,” said Birks & Mayors board chair, Lorenzo Rossi di Montelera. “His experience as president of one of the world’s most prestigious luxury brands and his extensive knowledge of the luxury jewellery and timepiece industry will be key assets for Birks & Mayors as it continues the development of the Birks product brand and pursues international expansion.”
Andruskevich remains president and CEO for the next three months to ensure a smooth transition, the company said. Bédos will report to him during that time.
“I am very grateful for Tom Andruskevich’s contributions to the company, and I am delighted that he will be able to work closely with his successor to ensure a seamless transition,” di Montelera added. “The board is very pleased to see Tom continue as vice-chair of the board after the transition is complete and to serve on the board’s executive committee.”
Prior to Boucheron, Bédos was managing director of Cartier France from 2002 to 2004, and international executive manager of Richemont from 2000 to 2002, serving alongside that company’s president. He got his start in the jewellery industry with Cartier in 1988.
“It is with much pride and enthusiasm that I join Birks & Mayors,” Bédos said. “I am looking forward to building on the company’s successes, developing our strong brands, and working with a team of dedicated professionals.”
Birks & Mayors operates 61 stores in Canada and the United States.
