On display at Birks’ Edmonton store, this rare 10-carat pink diamond took three-and-a-half months to cut and polish.
One of the largest pink diamonds ever found is on display at Birks’ Edmonton store.

Cut and polished from a 21.35-carat stone found in a South African mine, the 10-carat fancy light purplish pink sparkler is set in a platinum ring design.

It took three-and-a-half months to cut and polish the diamond, which is even bigger than the 12.76-carat pink stone recently unearthed at the Argyle mine in Australia.

“Birks has been committed to providing diamonds of a superior quality since its early beginnings,” says Deborah Nicodemus, Birks and Mayors’ executive vice-president and chief merchandising and marketing officer. “We are very excited to be showcasing one of the world’s largest pink diamonds ever mined, which highlights Birks’ authority in precious gemstones and gives us a chance to offer a truly unique experience to our clients.”

The radiant-cut diamond with its purple and pink hues will remain on display at Birks until tomorrow.
