In the latest in a series of high-level staffing changes, digital jewellery retailer Blue Nile[2] has named Katie Zimmerman its chief merchandising officer. Zimmerman will be responsible for developing new collections, increasing margin contributions, and establishing new partnerships, and will report to CEO Jason Goldberger.
“Katie brings a unique eye and thoughtful analysis to merchandising bridal and fashion jewellery categories,” said Goldberger. “Her skillset is critical to unlocking the sourcing, assortment, and sales wins that will further Blue Nile’s position.”
Zimmerman has considerable experience in the industry—in her previous role, she served as vice-president of merchandising for Zales[3] (part of Signet Jewelers[4]).
The announcement comes less than a month after the appointment of Bill Koefoed as Blue Nile’s chief financial officer[5]. Since September, the company has also named a new chief product officer, chief strategy officer, and chief operating officer.
