In honour of six decades of high-tech gadgets, espionage, and ‘shaken, not stirred’ martinis, Swiss watchmaker Omega has crafted two new James Bond-inspired timepieces.
Slated for release in early 2023, the Seamaster varieties feature design aspects specific to the long-running film franchise and its creator, Ian Fleming.
“Each one pays homage to the spy through innovation and impressive materials—with a touch of film magic infused within the design,” Omega said in a press release.
The stainless-steel model, which includes a commemorative ’60’ in place of the diving scale’s traditional inverted triangle, is inspired by the timepiece worn by Pierce Brosnan in GoldenEye, the franchise’s first Omega collaboration. Driven by a co-axial Master Chronometer, the design features a blue oxalic anodized aluminum bezel and dial, along with a film-themed caseback, replicating the 007 opening sequence with Bond in silhouette and a spinning-gun barrel design.
The second design, which is crafted in Omega’s trademarked 18-karat Canopus Gold, serves as a nod to Fleming’s Jamaican home, which is known as ‘GoldenEye.’ The watch’s dial is made from natural grey silicon and, due to the material’s crystallites, offers a one-of-a-kind pattern. In tribute to the Jamaican flag, the bezel is circled with a paving of green and yellow treated natural diamonds in 10 different shades, ranging from extra-dark forest green to cognac.
