The new year will offer Canadian accessory and apparel designers a fresh opportunity for international exposure, thanks to efforts by Toronto Fashion Incubator (TFI), London Fashion Week, and the High Commission of Canada to the United Kingdom.
TFI’s biannual Press & Buyers Brunch and Tradeshow has run since 1995, and this year, it will expand its horizons by relocating to the United Kingdom. The event will take place at London’s Canada House on February 15, running from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. TFI hopes this will broaden participating designers’ exposure to include a wide variety of media and retailers from the United Kingdom, Europe, and the United States.
“Thanks to the High Commission of Canada to the United Kingdom, we are beyond thrilled to receive this exceptional opportunity to showcase Canadian fashion talent abroad,” said Susan Langdon, TFI’s executive director. “We are extremely grateful to receive support that will enable one of TFI’s signature events to debut during London Fashion Week.”
This event replaces the TFI New Labels Competition, which focused on local engagement.

“With a renewed focus on the export of creative industries under the Government of Canada’s Creative Export Strategy, the High Commission of Canada is pleased to partner with the Toronto Fashion Incubator to showcase up-and-coming Canadian design talent during London Fashion Week,” said Greg Houlahan, Canada’s senior trade commissioner and minister commercial to the United Kingdom.
Designers can apply to participate in the tradeshow by contacting TFI.
