A recently released archive book from publisher Assouline[2] delves into the long history of U.S. watch brand Bulova[3], exploring what the company describes in a press release as its “previously untold story.”

Bulova: A History of Firsts looks at not only the history of the brand, but also the influence of its founder, Joseph Bulova, and his son. As the title implies, the book focuses primarily on the various ‘firsts’ that mark Bulova’s history, describing the company as a force that has, at various points, broken new ground in advertising, marketing, aviation, space exploration, and feminism as well as watchmaking.

The publication consists of eight essay-style chapters supported by strong visuals, with the voices of style writers, musicians, journalists, and horologists comprising the text. It is edited by experienced luxury historian Aaron Sigmond, who has worked on numerous publications related to watches and timepieces.
