Calgary Jewellery turns 60

SB_calgary_1Celebration events, contests, and a multi-faceted media campaign are some of the ways Calgary Jewellery is celebrating its 60th year in business.

Founded in 1955 by Les and Dora Florence, the retailer has grown into a two-storey, 465-m2 (5000-sf) foot boutique offering watch brands, such as Chanel, Baume & Mercier, and Chopard, along with jewellery from companies like Hulchi Belluni, Yvel, and Chimento. Crystal and giftware round out its offerings.

“We have grown the business through a combination of layers, service, style, and selection, as well as honesty, reliability, and value,” says Bernard Florence, who along with his sister, Caroline Deutsch, now runs the business.

“It’s very gratifying to see the expression of joy and excitement when a client receives their jewellery. I am fortunate to be a part of their very special moment. Their reaction speaks louder than any words.”

The family attributes their longevity to offering maintenance services, expert consulting, and Bernard’s custom designs, along with the personal relationships they’ve established with their clientele over the years.
