Homegrown jewellery is the focus of the Canadian Jewellery Design Awards.
Held from Sept. 26 to 28, the competition coincides with the Ancaster Gem, Mineral, Bead & Jewellery Show. Both the event and the awards are organized by Robert Hall Originals.
The categories are:
• beads;
• sterling silver/Argentium;
• open category (although entries must include a gemstone); and
• people’s choice.
Designs may include other materials, but 75 per cent of the piece must be made of the material specified in the category. First-place winners receive $500 gift certificates, while second-place receive $100 gift certificates. Prizes are provided by Robert Hall Originals.
Each submission must be the artist’s original design and should not have previously won an award or competition.
The entry fee is $10 per item, which must be received by Aug. 15.
Winners will be announced at the Ancaster Gem, Mineral, Bead & Jewellery Show on Sept. 28 at 1:30 p.m.
