COVID might be showing little sign of slowing down, but Canada’s jewellery retailers are proving to be as resilient as ever.
Paris Jewellers has opened a new store at Kingsway Mall, located in its hometown of Edmonton, Alta.
“This location is Kingsway is absolutely a dream come true for us,” says the company’s co-owner and director of operations, Chau Lui. “We signed this lease prior to the COVID-19 pandemic. The past six months have been, without a doubt, the most challenging for our business careers, but, at the same time, we have experienced the most growth, learning, and felt the most amount of support from our team members and customers.”
Founded in 1987, Paris Jewellers has 22 locations in four provinces. It is co-owned and operated by Chau, who is on the board of directors for the Canadian Jewellers Association (CJA), and her sister, Trang Wong.
“As a business owner,” Chau says, “sometimes you live in fear—fear of failure, fear of the unknown—and what an unknown time it has been. That being said, when we go to the core of what we believe in and what we stand for, we are reminded of all the reasons why we do what we do.”
Paris Jewellers recently launched its holiday collection[2] and will be donating a portion of those proceeds to Make-A-Wish Canada[3].
