Thirty-two jewellers from across Canada and the United States helped raise nearly $10,000 last year for local charities through the sale of Sarah’s Hope Jewelry.

Participating retailers showcased select Sarah’s Hope Jewelry pendants, earrings, bracelets, rings, and awareness ribbons, donating a percentage of each sale during the peak jewellery promotional sales period of November to December to a local charity of their choice.

Now in its fourth season, the Giving Back Locally program has raised more than $110,000. As a partner in the initiative, Jewelers Mutual Insurance Co., donates $1000 to the charity of the store that sells the most Sarah’s Hope Jewelry during the promotional period.

“We were honoured to once again to partner with Sarah’s Hope Jewelry in the Giving Back Locally program and share in the giving spirit with jewellers across the country and within their local communities,” said Trina Woldt, chief marketing officer (CMO) at Jewelers Mutual.

This year, Thorpe & Co. Jewelers of Sioux City, Iowa, donated $1000 and received this year’s $1000 contribution from Jewelers Mutual, raising a total of $2000 for its local charity, Mary Elizabeth Child Care Center. Store owner, Rusty Clark’s, great-grandfather was instrumental in forming the centre more than 100 years ago.

“There’s something about this program, Giving Back Locally, and Sarah’s Hope Jewelry that really struck a chord with people,” said store owner Karen Clark. “We were pleasantly surprised at how people responded to our ads promoting this program. They made it their mission to stop in and support this cause. There really are a lot of good-hearted people out there.”

Last year, Bogarts Jewellers in St John’s, N.L., was the top contributor for Giving Back Locally.
