Knadjian of Belgium.

CIBJO president Gaetano Cavalieri has thrown that group’s support behind helping to grow Armenia’s jewellery industry and market.

Speaking at the 2012 edition of the Yerevan International Jewellery Show in Armenia, Cavalieri paid tribute to the Armenian Jewellers Association (AJA) and its members who are working to promote local jewellery design around the world.

“My congratulations go out to the Armenian Jewellers Association, and to the excellent work it is doing in promoting its industry internationally and the jewellery culture in general in its own country,” said Cavalieri in his keynote address.

“As an Italian, I know what is like to like to be associated with jewellery simply by virtue of my nationality. But we are not alone, of course. The Armenian diaspora is known the world over in the jewellery community, and over the years I have made many friends from it, some of whom are here today. I am pleased I am finally able to experience the real Armenia.”

During his visit, Cavalieri met with AJA president Gagik Gevorkyan; Armenian president Serzh Azati Sargsyan; Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan; Minister of the Economy Tigran Davtyan; and Minister of the Diaspora, Hranush Hakobyan.
