Citizen’s ‘installation art’ is made from 80,000 main movement plates suspended in air.

A piece of ‘installation art’ made from 80,000 main movement plates will be the focal point of Citizen’s booth at Milan Design Week.

From April 8 to 13, more than 320,000 visitors from 160-plus countries will descend on the northern Italy fashion mecca.

“[Visitors] will have an opportunity to experience the Citizen brand spirit, which relentlessly forges the future through the exploration of the relationship between light and time,” the company said in a news release.

Developed by Paris-based architect, Tsuyoshi Tane of DGT Architects, the installation art celebrates the theme of ‘light is time’ through main plates suspended in air. The main plate is the structural device that supports all a watch’s components.

Other highlights include a pocket watch from the 1920s, as well as Citizen’s latest models.

“The entire exhibit will reinforce our world-class brand and hopefully allow visitors to better understand the allure of Citizen,” the company added.
