
Glen Van Valkenburg has been named president of the Canadian Jewellery Group Cooperative Association (CJG).
Van Valkenburg, owner of Van Valkenburg & Son Jewellers Inc., in Forest, Ont., takes over from outgoing president, Todd Wright of Wright’s Jewelry Ltd., in Medicine Hat, Alta. Wright will now serve as the CJG’s past-president.
Three new directors were also elected during the CJG’s annual general meeting and buying show, in Toronto, last month. Richard Rooney (Bogart’s Jewellers, St, John’s, Nfld.), Kent Heinrichs (Heinrichs Jewellery, Saskatoon, Sask.), and Kim Berg (European Goldsmith, Kelowna, B.C.) were welcomed to the board, as veteran board members stepped down from their respective terms; Ernie Epp (now retired from Independent Jewellers, Winnipeg), Wayne Fisher (Richardson’s Jewellery, Lloydminster, Alta.), and John Halsall (now retired from JR Jewellers, Chilliwack, B.C.).
