Sustainability, compliance, and the Kimberley Process (KP) are some of the timely topics JCK Las Vegas showgoers can brush up on, come June.
Reed Exhibitions—the show’s organizer—has released its list of educational seminars, along with keynote speakers.
The sessions are designed to reflect industry shifts, both during and after the recession.
“JCK Las Vegas serves as a dynamic platform for the industry to discuss matters of common concern, learn from best practices and proven methods, and seek out new voices that bring refreshed thinking,” said Yancy Weinrich, JCK’s industry vice-president.
This year, the keynote speakers will be Chuck Bowling, president and chief operating officer (COO) of Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino, as well as Paola De Luca, co-founder and creative director of trend forecasting firm, TJF.
Bowling will discuss techniques and how to maximize opportunities that prepare companies to take advantage of the economic recovery, while De Luca will provide a sneak peek into how cultural and societal changes will help shape upcoming jewellery trends, design direction, materials, and colour choices.
Other topics covered in the educational sessions include:
• new sales and marketing insights;
• sales, staff, and management training; and
• customer, market, and demographic trends.
Rio Tinto—a first-time exhibitor at JCK Las Vegas and sponsor of the management and luxury tracks—will present a panel discussion on June 3 from 9:45 a.m. to 11 a.m. in the Tradewinds Ballroom AB. The panel will feature Sean Murray, Fred Meyer Jewelers’ sustainable supply chain specialist; goldsmith and jewellery designer Alexandra Hart; and Cecilia L. Gardner, president, chief executive officer (CEO), and general counsel for the Jewelers Vigilance Committee (JVC).
The sessions are free to JCK badge holders and run from June 2 to 5 at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center’s Tradewinds Ballrooms. A complete schedule of sessions can be found at www.jcklasvegasshow.com/education.
