The Diamond Bourse of Canada (DBC) has voted unanimously to appoint Deepak Kumar of Deepak International Ltd. (DIL) to its board of directors.

Deepak Kumar of Deepak International Ltd. (DIL) has been appointed to the Diamond Bourse of Canada’s (DBC’s) board of directors.

He assumes a post vacated by Filip Zimmerman of Zimmy Diamonds.

Kumar was recently awarded exclusive licensing rights by the Government of the Northwest Territories (GNWT) to manufacture the Polar Bear diamond brand at two facilities he is opening in Yellowknife.

“Mr. Kumar has been an active member of the Diamond Bourse of Canada for the last two years, and has become a substantial asset to the bourse and its members,” said DBC general manager Adam Shubinsky.

“The Diamond Bourse of Canada has advocated consistently for Canadian diamond manufacturing and has been extensively involved with a variety of initiatives that were designed to promote and facilitate growth within Canada’s local diamond industry. We at the bourse believe Mr. Kumar’s new manufacturing facilities will help to invigorate Canada’s diamond landscape, enhance its existing diamond value-chain, and help to secure Canada’s role and position within the international diamond trade. To that end, we truly believe that Mr. Kumar’s contacts, industry know-how, and experience will quickly become an important asset to the Diamond Bourse of Canada, and bring a unique form of value to our members.”
