De Beers Canada[2] has added another award to its 2018 count[3]—this time, for communications.
For the second year running, the company’s external and corporate affairs team won the Communications Team of the Year Award as part of the North American Excellence Awards[4]. They were recognized at the European Excellence Awards Gala in Dublin earlier this month.
The accolade honours the three-member team’s achievements in internal and external communications. In particular, it highlights the work they undertook related to the celebration of Victor Mine[5]’s 10-year anniversary in August, the De Beers Inspired Ice International Ice Carving Competition, a diversity campaign, and the launch of new scholarship offerings[6].
Communications relating to Victor Mine were a particular challenge, as the operation is slated to close in early 2019. The team members were praised for their effective handling of this development when dealing with employees, governments, and communities. This achievement made the group a runner-up in the issues and reputation communications category.
“Earning this recognition for the second consecutive year is a reflection of the volume and quality of work our team generates to provide internal and external communications for De Beers Canada,” said Tom Ormsby, the company’s head of external and corporate affairs.
