Dominion Diamond appoints president and COO

Mining veteran Chantal Lavoie has been named president and chief operating officer (COO) of Dominion Diamond Ekati Corp.

He assumes his duties July 1 and will be based in Yellowknife.

Lavoie has more than 25 years’ experience in open pit and underground mining, including permitting, construction, operation, and senior management. 

He was previously manager of the underground division at Barrick Gold’s Goldstrike and COO of De Beers’ Canadian mining operations, including the Victor Mine in Ontario, as well as Snap Lake Mine and the Gahcho Kue project in the Northwest Territories.
