Dominion Diamond Corp. chair and chief executive officer (CEO) Robert Gannicott is taking a medical leave of absence to undergo treatment that is expected to continue until mid-February.
During this period, executive vice-president Brendan Bell will assume the role of acting CEO. He will be supported by Elliot Holland as vice-president responsible for the Jay Project and Business Development.
Holland’s appointment is instrumental to advancing the Jay Project which, beyond Misery and Pigeon, is considered the future of the Ekati diamond mine.
Prior to joining Dominion, Holland was a partner at McKinsey & Company, serving mining clients, including diamond mines, on operations, strategy, and capital projects. He holds a bachelor of science in engineering in civil and environmental engineering from Princeton University and a master of business administration from Stanford University.
Current lead director and longstanding board member Dan Jarvis will take over as acting chair in Gannicott’s absence.
Jarvis will be supported in this role by audit committee chair Ollie Oliveira, who has extensive experience in the diamond mining industry.
