DPA announces senior positions

Diamond Producers Association (DPA) has appointed Stephen Lussier as chair, Jim Pounds as vice-chair, and Jean-Marc Lieberherr as its CEO.

All three hold or have held high-profile positions in the diamond industry:

  • Lussier is executive vice-president of marketing at De Beers Group of Companies, as well as CEO of its Forevermark brand;
  • Pounds is executive vice-president, diamonds, at Dominion Diamond Corp.; and
  • Lieberherr is former managing director of Rio Tinto’s diamond business.

According to a press release, they will work toward developing the organization’s strategic approach, as it focuses on maintaining and enhancing consumer demand for and confidence in diamonds.

“Diamonds are nature’s most precious treasures and it is a real privilege to have the opportunity to tell the world their story,” Lussier said. “I look forward to working together with Jim, Jean-Marc, Sally Morrison, and all of the team to ensure the diamond dream grows ever stronger.”

Lieberherr said he is excited about working with diamond industry stakeholders to build a more resilient diamond sector.

“[Diamonds are] key to the prosperity and livelihood of millions of families the world over and as such, this is an exciting and rewarding endeavour,” he added.
