Ekati mine extension granted water permit

[1]Dominion Diamond Corporation’s Ekati diamond mine has been granted a type-A water license which permits the organization to use water-—an important regulatory step in the mining process. The Jay extension, a high-grade kimberlite pipe at the site, is also included  in the approval. 

According to Jim Gowans, Dominion Diamond’s chairman, the license is “a significant milestone for the Jay project,” as it’s the “final major step in the permitting process at Jay.”

The Jay extension is estimated to add a decade to the Northwest Territories mine’s lifespan.
