
Police say the man was operating a jewellery wholesale business in the basement of his home, selling counterfeits of Louis Vuitton, Tiffany, Chanel, Christian Dior, and other high-end jewellery and merchandise.
Some of the product made it to retail locations across the greater Toronto area and investigators are now working to determine how many shops were involved.
If sold at retail prices, police say the merchandise could be worth between $5 to $7 million. More than $800,000 in cash relating to the sale of the counterfeits was also confiscated. It was the largest seizure of fake jewellery and cash relating to counterfeiting in Canadian history.
Fu-Ten Huang is charged with eight counts of possession of property obtained by crime over $5000; 13 counts of possession of property obtained by crime under $5000; 21 counts of passing off wares; and possession of proceeds of crime over $5000.
