The Responsible Jewellery Council (RJC) is reviewing its Code of Practices (COP) and asking for stakeholder feedback.
The review comes three years after the code was published. Proposed changes aim to respond to new issues, improve guidance and interpretation in challenging areas, and strengthen the standard’s impact.
All RJC members—from mine to retail—must be certified against the code within two years of joining.
The proposed revisions take into account stakeholder comments received in a prior comment period, which included:
- a review of parallel standards and initiatives;
- RJC’s log of comments and questions from the past three years of implementation; and
- Standards Committee discussions on a number of key topics.
The comment period on the COP’s draft revision will be open until Feb. 29.
