Fiera di Vicenza and Rimini Fiera to merge

fiera-di-vicenzaTwo of Italy’s major trade shows are joining forces.

Fiera di Vicenza and Rimini Fiera have received board approval to merge. The deal is expected to become official by the end of the year following their respective shareholders’ meetings.

Neither company has released the name of the new entity that will be formed.

The agreement between the two organizations also includes appointing Rimini Fiera president Lorenzo Cagnoni as president and CEO of the new company, as well as providing Fiera di Vicenza with two seats on the board. One of these will be for Fiera di Vicenza president Matteo Marzotto, who will take up the role of vice-president.

“Today’s step is particularly important because the salient points of the agreement have been defined, opening the way for the first example of integration in the Italian trade fair system,” Cagnoni said.

Marzotto said he is “particularly pleased with this result.”

“[This] has been achieved through enormous team work, marking the start of a merger process between two great players in the industry. This operation will change the paradigm in the Italian trade fair system, capitalizing on an industrial project with great leverage.”
