Toronto’s First Jewelry has purchased Teagan Co., a Florida-based jewellery distributor and collegiate bead company.
“With 190 million college sports fans, 89 million of them women and 31 million with incomes over $100,000, we wanted to be in the collegiate market,” said Neil Travis, chief executive officer (CEO) of First Jewelry, exclusive distributor of Persona beads and charms.
“In our research of the market, we felt Teagan Co., represented the best quality and most unique look to complement some new Persona collegiate designs we will be introducing this summer.”
Teagan Co., was started in 2007 by Katie and Ernie Hinderliter, who named it after their daughter, Teagan, a University of Florida business school graduate.
“We were the first collegiate bead company to make a quality sterling silver and enamel-licensed bead, and we have sold to over 300 stores from Florida to Canada and as far west as Texas,” Hinderliter said.
Teagan Co., will work closely with First Jewelry to expand the business further in the United States. The company will continue under the new name, Teagan by Persona, and offer its current collection.
Persona will launch a ‘Persona Campus Life’ collection, featuring collegiate beads and charms, as well as sorority styles. The collection will be available starting this month at participating retailers, including Zales, Gordon’s, and independent jewellery retailers. The Persona collection will become available to existing Teagan Co., customers.
