Gahcho Kué mine wins Viola R. MacMillan Award

De Beers’ Gahcho Kué mine received the Viola R. MacMillan Award at the Prospectors and Developers Association of Canada (PADC) Awards Gala for its ability to demonstrate leadership in management and financing for mineral exploration and development of mineral resource.

“ I am extremely proud of the work done by every member of the team at Gahcho Kué,” says mine general manager, Allan Rodel. “We work in some of the most difficult conditions found anywhere in the world, and we have achieved so many important milestones safely, without harm to people or the environment.”

This is the mine’s third award. It has previously won the Workplace Health and Safety Award from the Yellowknife Chamber of Commerce and received gold at the 11^th Annual Project Management Institute’s awards gala.

The award was accepted by Rodel and Patrick Evans, chief executive of Mountain Province Diamonds.
