Gem Star names former Zales VP as director

Veteran executive Beverly Serrao has been appointed director of Toronto-based diamond and jewellery wholesaler, Gem Star, Inc.

Formerly vice-president of diamond sourcing for Zales Corp., in Dallas, Serrao was also a diamond purchaser with Peoples Jewellers in Toronto.

She will oversee the development of new business at Gem Star.

“Beverly is a highly skilled and experienced diamond buyer with many years’ experience and a high code of ethics,” said Gem Star president Bhushan Vora.

“I am thrilled to add her to our executive team. Her experience in buying and selling diamonds, combined with her negotiating capabilities and high code of ethics, are very relevant to Gem Star. We are looking forward to a long and profitable relationship.”

Serrao says she is excited to join the Gem Star team.

“I have known Bhushan for many years and have admired his personal and business integrity,” she notes. “With my expertise in the diamond industry, coupled with my ability to identify product opportunities and strategies, I look forward to working with Gem Star in advancing the brand and increasing profits.”
