[1]Gemvision is offering amnesty to any company using a pirated version of its software that agrees to purchase a licensed version.
The announcement comes in response to what the CAD provider says is an alarming use of pirated proprietary software, especially in some of the major jewellery centres in the United States, Europe, and Asia.
Gemvision says it is launching an aggressive campaign to identify violators and seek legal remedies.
“We are committed to protecting our customer’s investment,” says Christopher Burger, vice-president of Gemvision.Â
“Our technological prowess combined with tenacity will be used to locate, identify, and take action against companies and individuals using illegal versions of our software. We will take bold action to eliminate the illegal use of our products.”
Pirated software packaging appears unprofessional and of poor quality, and is usually unaccompanied by a manual.
Gemvision warns downloading, uploading, or distributing unauthorized software is against international copyright law, punishable by monetary civil and statutory damages. The loss of a company’s reputation in the industry is also a possibility when violations are made public.
