E[1]nhanced security features and QR codes are just two revisions to Gemological Institute of America’s (GIA’s) diamond grading and gem reports.
Although the new reports are similar to their predecessors, they are printed on unique and durable proprietary paper. In addition to consuming less paper and other materials, they also include QR codes, providing clients and consumers with direct access to GIA’s online report check service via smartphone to confirm their authenticity.
GIA introduced the new format Jan. 1. Reports dated July 1, 2013 through Dec. 31, 2013 will be reissued at no charge upon request. Those dated from Jan. 1, 2013 through June 30, 2013 will be available for a fee. The previous reports must be returned to GIA before the reissues can be processed.
