A delegation from the Gem and Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC) recently toured Brazil, Colombia, and Panama to explore markets, boost India’s exports, and strengthen economic ties in the Latin American and Caribbean (LAC) region. From May 21 to 29, the group led by GJEPC chairman Kirit Bhansali, worked to bolster India’s gems and jewellery exports by building stronger economic ties and facilitating collaborative opportunities in Latin America, thereby driving growth in the Indian gems and jewellery sector.
In Brazil, the delegation held crucial discussions with key industry leaders to explore potential collaborations and market expansions, including a meeting with IBGM director Ecio Morais to discuss an India Pavilion at the Feninjer jewellery show. They also held talks with the Monte Carlo group and the CEO of SAUER Group, focusing on strengthening business ties and potential partnerships. Additionally, meetings with ESMEBRAS and major retailers like H Stern and Vivara facilitated valuable networking opportunities, underscoring the delegation’s commitment to robust bilateral trade relations.
In Colombia, the GJEPC delegation focused on strengthening trade relations, beginning with a networking lunch with Shri Vanlalhuma, Indian ambassador to Colombia, to discuss promoting Indian jewellery. The delegation also toured local jewellery markets to understand the latest trends and consumer preferences. Interactions with Colombian jewellers, facilitated by Mubri president and LAC GJEPC coordinator Ali Pastorini, interactions with Colombian jewellers underscored the potential for Indian jewellers to meet the growing demand for high-quality, diverse jewellery products. The delegation also aimed to encourage participation in the India International Jewellery Show (IIJS) and upcoming Buyer-Seller Meets by gaining insights into Colombia’s import and export policies.
In Panama, the GJEPC delegation focused on strengthening India’s presence in the LAC region’s gems and jewellery sector. Sumit Seth, Indian ambassador to Panama, Costa Rica, and Nicaragua, emphasized the importance of bolstering economic ties between India and Panama. An event organized by the Embassy and GJEPC highlighted shared trade goals, while a networking dinner allowed Indian and Panamanian companies to explore technological advancements and potential collaborations.
