[1]A 52.58-carat diamond went for $10.9 million at Christie’s New York’s Magnificent Jewels auction.
The D-colour internally flawless Golconda diamond helped cap off the year for a total of $193,873,950 realized at three auctions.
“Beginning with the historic sale of ‘The Princie Diamond’ this April and culminating with the 52.58-carat D-colour internally flawless Golconda diamond, 2013 has been a stellar year for jewellery at Christie’s New York,” said Rahul Kadakia, head of jewellery for Christie’s Americas and Switzerland.
“From start to finish, prices for superb diamonds, natural pearls, and rare jewels have soared beyond their estimates, driven by intense competition from collectors worldwide.”
