Gun-wielding robbers strike Hamilton jewellery store, owner injured

Police are investigating an armed robbery at a jewellery store in Hamilton, Ont., where a vehicle reversed through the front window, allowing suspects to enter. The robbers threatened the business owner by pointing a gun at him before smashing display cases.

The owner sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to a local hospital. At the time of the robbery, there were no customers in the store.

After the robbery, the suspects fled on foot to a nearby vehicle, but police were able to apprehend five individuals. The suspects, all from Scarborough, Ont., are facing multiple charges, including robbery, disguise with intent, mischief over $5,000, theft over $5,000, and possession of property obtained by crime. The arrested individuals include two 18-year-old males, one 19-year-old male, one 20-year-old male, and one youth.

Police are still investigating the incident and are actively searching for additional suspects, including one who is described as a male, non-white, with long black hair and a beard, wearing an all-black Adidas tracksuit. The suspect may also be connected to another vehicle involved in the crime.
