The International Diamond Laboratories (IDL) is now offering grading services in accordance with the Tanzanite Foundation’s Tanzanite Quality Scale (TQS).
“TQS was developed to provide consumer confidence in tanzanite by ensuring consistency in quality and price, as well as allowing for direct comparability,” said Tanzanite Foundation’s technical director Gabriella Endlin.
“International Diamond Laboratories, with their mission to provide consistency through new technology, shares the same vision, and we are excited to partner with this progressive and reputable laboratory.”
IDL is the fourth laboratory in the world to offer tanzanite grading according to TQS, which is the only specific international grading system for the gemstone.
Tanzanite is found only in the foothills of Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania, East Africa.
IDL’s tanzanite grading reports certifies the stone’s authenticity and origin.
“We are committed to developing the jewellery trade by building consumer confidence,” said IDL chief executive officer Peter Meeus.
“Certifying tanzanite is a natural step in this direction. [There] is a strong demand for tanzanite and we are happy to ensure customers get authentic, high-quality tanzanite.”
